Breon Baker is a 2009 participant of Public Allies, a national 10-month apprenticeship program that provides young leaders with real world experience in the nonprofit sector. He has teamed up with the Illinois African American Coalition for Prevention (ILAACP) and is serving as the Special Project Coordinator. Special Projects include: Capitol Day, HIV/AIDS Summit, and the Youth in Prevention Initiative.
Breon holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and International Studies from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL.

Juan Escobedo is a Choose Respect Program Associate for the Illinois African American Coalition for Prevention (ILAACP). He works with the Choose Respect Illinios Staff Team to implement the program statewide
Juan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is currently attending the Chicago School of Professional Psychology for an M.A.
in Counseling with a Latino Mental Health Concentration. |

Lynwellyn Gudger is a Choose Respect Program Associates for the Illinois African American Coalition for Prevention (ILAACP). She works with the Choose Respect Illinois Staff Team to implement the program statewide.
Lynwellyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Women's and Gender Studies from DePaul University. She is currently working on an M.A. in Women's and Gender Studies at DePaul University.

Malik Nevels is the Executive Director for the Illinois African American Coalition for Prevention (ILAACP), a statewide membership based organization strengthening early intervention and prevention systems, policies, and strategies in African American communities through culturally competent research, training, and advocacy. He serves on the steering committees of the Illinois Public Health Institute and IVPA's Choose Respect Illinois and is a member of the Illinois After-school Funding Policy Taskforce.
Prior to joining the ILAACP, Malik served in various senior executive capacities for the Illinois Center for Violence Prevention, Duncan YMCA, and the Chicago Urban League. He also worked for U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr., Mayor of Chicago Richard M. Daley, and U.S. Senator Carol Moseley-Braun.
Additionally, he is active in various civic organizations and professional associations including Leaders United, Healthy Schools Campaign, Public Allies, and 100 Black Men of Chicago.
Malik earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Illinois' College of Law. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Certificate in Strategies in Non-Profit Management from the University of Chicago.

Alena Rivers

Alena Rivers is the Administrative Assistant for the Illinois African-American Coalition for Prevention. She is primarily responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the ILAACP staff, members and Board of Directors.
Prior to joining ILAACP, Alena worked for 10 years in the Enrollment Management department for the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES), a non-profit, study abroad provider for U.S. college students studying in programs across the world. At IES, Alena was responsible for the admissions and pre-departure process for students attending overseas programs. Additionally, she managed the merit-based scholarship program and participated on a Diversity Task Force to increase access to study abroad programs for students of typically underrepresented populations.
Alena left IES after the birth of her daughter and has been serving as the volunteer Treasurer for the Chicago Central Chapter of Mocha Moms, Inc., a national organization dedicated to supporting mothers of color.

Chris Sang

Chris Sang is the Youth Initiatives Coordinator for the Illinois African American Coalition for Prevention (ILAACP). He is primarily responsible for coordinating Choose Respect Illinois, a statewide teen dating violence prevention initiative, and the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority's Youth Advisory Board.
He comes to the ILAACP through his participation in Public Allies, a national 10-month apprenticeship program that provides young leaders with real world experience in the nonprofit sector. Prior to joining ILAACP, Chris was an AmeriCorps volunteer for Project Yes! where he taught math, science, language arts, and music to students attending Chicago's Peabody Elementary School.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies and Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
